Learn to spin yarn on a drop spindle. Find out why hand spun yarn is so special and learn how to make your own yarn! Within two weeks you will be spinning and plying your own yarn on an ancient, yet portable form of spinning tool - the drop spindle. You will learn to make yarn suitable for knitting, crochet, weaving, or any fiber craft.

Two 1.5-hour sessions, meeting weekly on the same day

Materials:

  • top whorl spindle (70mm 1.25 oz is recommended)
  • clean wool spinning fibre (any sheep breed such as Corriedale, Merino, Polwarth, avoid silk blends)
  • Optional reading materials: Respect the Spindle or Start Spinning
