Skill Builder: Steeking Knits

Ready to tackle the steeking scaries? In this class we will learn and practice two methods of reinforcing your knitting so you can cut into your knits with no fear. We’ll also go over finishing techniques for making your edges look neat. 

One 2-hour class

Instructor: Kerry

Skills needed: advanced

  • Knitting and purling

  • Increasing and decreasing

  • The ability to single chain crochet is helpful but not mandatory

Materials:

  • DK or Worsted Weight yarn

  • Scrap fingering weight yarn in a contrasting color

  • US 8 Needles

  • Crochet hook: 2.5mm, 3.0mm, OR 3.5mm- you will only need one

  • Small scissors

Homework: Cast on 30 stitches of worsted weight yarn and work 5” stockinette swatch. Bind off and bring your completed swatch to class.
