Skill Builder: Beaded Knitting

Add some sparkle to your knitting with beads. This crash course will cover pre-stringing beads and crochet methods for beading as we work through a swatch.

One 2-hour class.

Skills needed: advanced beginner

ability to knit and purl required.

Skills Learned:

• Pre-stringing & place as you go methods of applying beads
• Choosing yarn and bead pairings
• Special considerations when knitting with beads

Materials:

• Fingering weight yarn- scrap yarn is fine for this class
• US 2-4 needles (any size between US and US 4- whatever you are most comfortable working with)
• Size 6 seed beads
• Steel crochet hook size 12 (or small enough to fit through the bead and yarn)

Preparation:

Cast on 20 sts and work 10 rows of stockinette. Be ready to start practicing beading!
